We’re looking for a Business Intelligence Developer to join us and develop cutting edge data products which will enable us to make the best business decisions for our members, customers, colleagues and communities. You’ll help to build dynamic business intelligence reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI and Strategy to support a variety of colleagues and teams across our business, engaging and building relationships with a wide range of partners and gaining a fantastic exposure to all areas in the Co-op.

Why this role matters

As a BI developer at the Co-op, every day will be different. We’ll look to you to create reporting solutions to help our colleagues get a better understanding of their data. You’ll work closely with the engineering team and use your skills to build impactful reporting and BI solutions. If you’ve delivered business intelligence solutions before and have a strong analytical mind, we can offer you the opportunity to develop your career and make a real impact on how we share data at Co-op.

What you’ll do

•    Work closely with teams across the wider business to understand their requirements and provide insights, ensuring BI solutions meet their needs
•    Design, develop, test, and optimise BI solutions, with a focus on accessibility, performance, flexibility and standardisation
•    Collaborate with our data engineers in acquiring, capturing, validating, cleansing and managing data from several different sources
•    Build reporting layer tables in Databricks and SQL Server Management Studio
•    Develop impactful data visualisation products which are tailored to the users’ needs
•    Work cross-functionally and build relationships with the wider data team – data engineering, data governance, data science and technology teams
•    Align work with data governance, quality, and visualisations standards to ensure products are secure, compliant, and accessible

What you’ll bring

•    Experience of data models, reports, and dashboards across web and mobile platforms
•    A deep understanding of data visualisation best practice and proven experience working with Power BI or Strategy
•    Experience with working within the MS Azure Cloud data platform (Data Factory, Data Lake and Databricks)
•    Strong SQL skills with experience of Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio
•    Experience working on data warehouse projects and has a good understanding of data modelling principles
•    Demonstrable experience of understanding business problems, scoping requirements and wireframing potential solutions
•    The confidence to speak to business partners across all levels of the business, challenging and influencing along the way
•    The ability to pick up new technology and a desire to continuously learn

We know some people may hesitate to apply if they don’t meet every requirement. At Co‑op, we’re committed to building diverse and inclusive teams, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly, we still encourage you to apply.
