Up to £29,500 - £34,500 plus company car and excellent benefits (Work Level 6B)
Full time 39 hours per week, 5 days over 7, flexible working pattern
Biggleswade depot, SG18 8YY

We're looking for a Transport Store Risk Assessor to join our Biggleswade depot and help us keep deliveries safe, efficient and compliant across our store network. You'll visit stores across your region, carrying out risk assessments and identifying any factors that could affect deliveries, from site access and vehicle movements to health and safety considerations. By providing clear guidance and maintaining accurate records, you'll help create a safer experience for both our drivers and store colleagues.

Why this role matters

Our stores rely on safe and effective deliveries every day, and this role plays an important part in making that happen. You'll have the opportunity to work independently, build relationships with colleagues across our logistics and retail teams, and make a real impact on how we operate. No two days are the same, and you'll combine practical, on-site assessments with problem-solving and collaboration to help ensure our transport operation continues to meet the highest safety standards.

What you’ll do

•    Plan and manage your own workload, scheduling and carrying out store risk assessments across your region (around 350 stores)
•    Visit stores to assess delivery risks and document site-specific requirements, including access routes, contact details and health and safety considerations
•    Work closely with drivers and store colleagues to arrange visits and ensure assessments are completed effectively
•    Monitor and investigate reports from drivers, carrying out follow-up assessments where required
•    Support the opening of new stores and other transport-related projects
•    Maintain accurate records, updating assessment documentation and providing information to relevant teams
•    Build positive relationships with store and transport colleagues, listening to feedback and helping to resolve issues
•    Identify opportunities to improve delivery safety and support the team in finding practical solutions

What you’ll bring

We’re committed to making our roles as accessible as possible, so we only ask for the minimum criteria. To thrive here, you’ll need to bring:

•    A Class 1 (C+E) driving licence
•    A relevant health and safety qualification, such as IOSH Managing Safely or higher
•    The ability to work independently, manage your own workload and prioritise effectively
•    Flexibility to support a 24/7 operation when required
•    Strong communication skills, with the confidence to build relationships with colleagues at all levels
•    Good organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail when maintaining records and documentation
•    A good understanding of retail operations and the challenges faced by store colleagues and drivers
•    Confidence using Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel

Why Co-op?

We’re an organisation that puts people and communities first, and we’re powered by purpose. We want this to be a place where you can thrive, so you’ll also receive:

•    Great holiday allowance (rising in line with service)
•    A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
•    Company car
•    30% discount on Co-op products and 10% off other brands
•    Stream – early access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
•    Virtual healthcare including GP appointments, mental health support, nutrition and fitness advice
•    24/7 colleague support service
•    Training and support for your development and career progression
•    Cycle-to-work scheme
