We're looking for a SAP Project Accountant to join our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team and help us deliver the next phase of Co-op's SAP transformation. You'll provide financial leadership across major SAP programmes, working with programme teams and senior stakeholders to make sure investment decisions are well informed, programme spend is effectively managed, and expected benefits are delivered. This role will play a key finance part in helping us further develop the implementation of SAP platform while supporting future developments across the business.

Why this role matters

This is an exciting opportunity to be at the centre of one of Co-op's most significant transformation programmes. Following the successful implementation of SAP Finance, we're now focused on embedding the platform, driving adoption, and shaping its future across our business. You'll work on high-profile projects, influence key decisions, and partner with senior leaders to help deliver lasting business value. If you enjoy combining commercial thinking with strong financial management in a complex and evolving environment, this role offers the chance to make a real impact.

What you’ll do

•    Lead the financial management of SAP transformation programmes, overseeing budgets, forecasts and spend
•    Monitor business case performance, helping to ensure programmes deliver expected value and benefits
•    Partner with programme leaders and delivery teams to provide financial insight and support key decision-making
•    Provide constructive challenge to ensure initiatives are delivered efficiently and investments are well managed
•    Produce and present financial reporting for programme governance and senior stakeholders
•    Support the financial management of SAP projects across the wider Co-op business
•    Manage project cost centres and monitor financial performance against plans and targets
•    Help maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with internal standards and processes

What you’ll bring

We’re committed to making our roles as accessible as possible, so we only ask for the minimum criteria. To thrive here, you’ll need to bring:

•    A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent)
•    Significant experience in project accounting, finance business partnering, or programme financial management
•    Strong experience managing costs, budgets and forecasts within large or complex projects
•    Proven ability to assess and track business case performance and benefits realisation
•    Experience producing project-level financial reporting and supporting governance processes
•    Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to influence and challenge constructively
•    The ability to translate complex financial information into clear, actionable insight
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills, including working with senior leaders

Why Co-op?

We’re an organisation that puts people and communities first, and we’re powered by purpose. We want this to be a place where you can thrive, so you’ll also receive:

•    An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
•    28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
•    A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
•    Private healthcare
•    Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
•    30% discount on Co-op products and 10% off other brands
