We’re looking for a UX Designer to join our Digital technology & data team in Manchester. In this role, you’ll work closely with teams right across Co-op to design intuitive and accessible online experiences. Your first project will involve collaborating with colleagues in our Legal Services business to create digital user journeys that make it simple for people to access our legal advice and services.
As a UX Designer at Co-op, you’ll collaborate with product managers, engineers, and delivery teams to turn ideas into high-quality designs using tools like Figma. By contributing to our design systems and applying user insights, you’ll help provide consistency and usability across all our digital products. If you’re passionate about accessibility and want to make a meaningful impact through thoughtful, user-centred design, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Why this role matters
Legal services can sometimes feel complicated, and we want to change that. At Co-op, we’re building digital solutions that remove barriers and make life easier for our members, customers, and communities. This is where you come in. You’ll combine creativity with user research and accessibility principles to ensure our services are clear and easy to use, making a real difference to people during important moments in their lives.
What you’ll do
- Optimise online user journeys based on accessibility, user needs, and commercial goals
- Create sketches, wireframes, and high-quality designs in Figma
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and delivery teams to improve usability and accessibility
- Use analytics, feedback, and user insights to generate experimental ideas and support decision-making
- Provide input on product direction and vision
- Use and contribute to existing design systems to ensure consistency across products and services
- Communicate design decisions confidently to colleagues across Co-op
What you’ll bring
- Experience as a UX Designer
- Experience carrying-out usability research and facilitating inclusive feedback sessions
- Skilled in tools like Figma and Illustrator, and familiar with design systems
- The ability to translate ideas into high-quality designs
- Understanding of design accessibility and a willingness to develop further
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
We know some people may hesitate to apply if they don’t meet every requirement. At Co-op, we’re committed to building diverse and inclusive teams, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly, we still encourage you to apply.
Why Co-op?
At Co-op, we’re owned by our members. And because we’re owned by you, we can do right by you. So when you join us, you’re not just taking a job, you’re joining a movement. We’re an organisation that puts people and communities first, and we’re powered by purpose. We want this to be a place where you can thrive, so you’ll also receive:
- An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
- 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
- A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
- 30% discount on Co-op products and 10% off other brands
- Stream – early access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
- Virtual healthcare including GP appointments, mental health support, nutrition and fitness advice
- 24/7 colleague support service
- Training and support for your development and career progression
- Cycle-to-work scheme
