Legal Case Manager 
From £26,000 plus performance based incentive scheme after probation, with excellent benefits and progression opportunities (Work Level 6B)
Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours 
Manchester, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Bristol - You’ll complete your 6-month training at one of our offices, then you’ll have the option to work in a hybrid way.

We’re looking for case managers to join our Co-op Legal Services probate team. You don’t need legal experience for this role, as we’ll provide full training to get you up to speed and as a growing business we’re passionate about developing our colleagues through our internal career progression framework. If you’re looking to explore the route of qualifying through the SQE, this role counts as qualified work experience. In this role, you’ll be there for our customers during one of life’s most difficult moments following a bereavement. You’ll guide them through the legal and administrative steps with care and clarity, managing each case from start to finish. By staying in regular contact and discussing the details of the estate with empathy, you’ll help make a tough time a little easier. What you’ll do

•    take ownership of your own caseload and deliver on targets that drive the best outcomes for our customers
•    be supported by the latest technologies, including AI, to assist you in the management of files
•    work closely with customers (via phone or in writing), taking an empathetic approach given their recent circumstances
•    use a case management system to manage your work, making sure it’s always accurate and up to date
•    engage with third parties, in particular financial institutions, and government bodies
•    prepare the forms and documents required to keep cases moving forward and keep track of financial transactions

This role would suit people who have

•    a background in either law, recruitment, insurance, finance, or experience with managing cases/claims end-to-end
•    IT proficiency with the ability to learn new systems quickly
•    excellent customer service skills with the ability to put the customer’s interests at the heart of what you do
•    great organisational skills; you’re able to manage your own workload and prioritise in a fast-paced environment 
•    great verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to speak to clients on the phone
•    a keen eye for detail and accuracy
•    emotional resilience and the ability to be professional even in difficult situations

Choose your career path

Within our Probate Case Manager team, we’ve created a capability framework designed to help you develop in role and help prepare for you for promotions. You don’t need a legal background, as we’ll provide full training in role to get you up to speed.

If you’re keen to become a qualified solicitor and have either completed your LPC or SQE1 we can offer you the opportunity to complete the SQE2 through us, where funding is available. If you haven’t got your LPC, this role counts as qualified work experience. So, whether you have a legal background or not, you can build a rewarding legal career with us.

As a Case Manager you’ll be part of an ethical legal business that makes a real difference to our customers lives at a time when they need us most. You’ll provide legal and administrative support to our customers following a bereavement, managing each case from beginning to end. Cases will be non-complex legal matters focussing on non-taxable estates.

As an Associate Case Manager, you’ll take on cases which will involve taxable estates and you’ll have less supervision.

As a Senior Case Manager, you’ll start to take on more complex cases that are either taxable or non-taxable such as disputes, business interests, and agricultural and farming interests. We’ll also look to you to support more junior members of the team.

If you’re keen to develop your leadership skills, you can become a Case Management Team Leader. This will involve coaching, mentoring, and developing your team to deliver quality legal advice, strong case progression and great client service.

As a Lead Case Manager, you’ll be a subject matter expert, taking on our most complex and high-value cases involving taxable estates with minimal supervision. We’ll also look to you to support more junior members of the team.
