We’re looking for an Operations Manager within our Risk, Controls and Assurance team to join us within our wider Co-op Business Services (CBS) organisation. CBS is made up of a number of diverse teams dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable and cost-effective business services across our Co-op. You’ll play a key role in helping CBS to support and realise our group vision of ‘co-operating to build more value for member-owners every day’.
You’ll help shape how Co-op responds to disruption and builds resilience across its pan-service functions. This is a unique opportunity to lead critical work that spans CBS and beyond, making sure we’re prepared, connected, and ready to respond when incidents arise.
Why this job matters
This role is central to strengthening Co-op’s operational resilience. You’ll be the coordinating force that brings together teams from our shared service areas, and other service functions to drive a proactive, problem-solving mindset. You’ll help us evolve the resilience aspects of our control environment and make sure our critical outcomes are protected.
What you’ll do
- Lead and embed resilience elements into the CBS control environment, ensuring clarity, consistency, and flexibility across services
- Act as a grounding and coordinating function, connecting CBS with central resilience teams and ensuring critical issues are escalated appropriately
- Support crisis management activities and hyper-care meetings, driving readiness and control
- Deliver business continuity planning and assessment across CBS and wider service functions
- Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders to align planning and integrate change
- Monitor compliance with resilience standards and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Influence planning horizons and contribute to service growth and development
This role would suit people who have
- Experience in business continuity, resilience planning, and crisis management
- Strong people engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple service functions
- The ability to work across risk ranges and embed resilience practices into operational teams
- A passion for driving continuous improvement and integrating resilience into everyday operations
- A background in leading resilience projects with the ability to work alongside change teams to deliver pan-service outcomes
