We’re open to flexible working arrangements, including condensed hours. You’ll work in a hybrid way, with travel to our Manchester office a couple of times per month for team days, meetings, and events
About the role
We’re looking for a Business Intelligence Lead to join our Digital technology & data team in Manchester. In this role, you’ll help shape how we use data across Co-op, making sure our colleagues have the insights they need to make informed decisions that benefit our members, customers, and communities. You’ll lead the design and development of BI tools and solutions, from dashboards and KPI scorecards to data models and apps, helping us turn data into action.
As our Business Intelligence Lead, you’ll own our central BI platforms, making sure they’re well supported, maintained, and fit for purpose. You’ll set the direction for BI at Co-op, support colleague development, and build strong external partnerships that help us share and use data in the right way.
Why this role matters
At Co-op, we know that data helps us make better choices for the people and communities we serve. This role is key to unlocking that potential. You’ll lead the creation of BI tools that give colleagues the insights they need to make an even bigger difference through data.
What you’ll do
- Lead the strategy and delivery of reporting and data visualisation across Co-op
- Own and manage our BI platforms, and drive improvements in BI tools, processes, and how they’re used
- Spot opportunities, shape project scopes, and help secure funding
- Support the delivery of large, complex BI projects, keeping things on track and to budget
- Map learning needs and develop training to support BI use and self-service
- Champion development standards, peer reviews, and quality control across BI
- Build strong relationships with BI users across the business to understand their needs
- Work closely with our data architects, the Data Director, and other leads to assess platform needs
What you’ll bring
- A deep understanding of BI, performance reporting, and data analytics
- Hands-on experience in BI or Developer roles, with expert-level PowerBI skills
- Strong leadership experience, with a passion for helping others learn and develop
- A track record of delivering results in large, complex organisations
- Great communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Great relationship-building skills, including with third-party partners
We know some people may hesitate to apply if they don’t meet every requirement. At Co-op, we’re committed to building diverse and inclusive teams, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly, we still encourage you to apply.
Why Co-op?
At Co-op, we’re owned by our members. And because we’re owned by you, we can do right by you. So when you join us, you’re not just taking a job, you’re joining a movement. We’re an organisation that puts people and communities first, and we’re powered by purpose. We want this to be a place where you can thrive, so you’ll also receive:
- A company car or £6,000 car allowance
- Private healthcare
- An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
- 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
- A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
- Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
- 30% discount on Co-op products and 10% off other brands
- Stream – early access to a percentage of your pay as you earn it
- Virtual healthcare including GP appointments, mental health support, nutrition and fitness advice
- 24/7 colleague support service
- Training and support for your development and career progression
- Cycle-to-work scheme
