Manchester city centre – hybrid working splitting your time between home and the office

We’re looking for a Head of Strategy and Portfolio insight to join our Property leadership team and lead a high performing team to inform the strategy of our property portfolios across the business.

In this role you’ll set the vision and strategy for our property portfolio over a 5- and 10-year horizon, looking at our investment and divestment plans and working with leaders across the business to make sure that this aligns with the wider business strategy. We’ll also look to you to partner our Food, Funeralcare and Logistics businesses to provide location and portfolio insight, and understand future property requirements, to support the effective delivery of the broader strategy and new customer initiatives. No two days will be the same, as you’ll work across a varied portfolio of properties, providing an excellent chance to gain exposure to our senior leadership team across all business areas and influence the future direction of our Co-op.

What you’ll do:

•    Lead a team of 7 colleagues in an inclusive way, empowering their development and role modelling our Co-op values and leadership behaviours
•    Proactively horizon plan to define the strategy for our property portfolio, making sure we meet the needs of our member-owners, colleagues and communities whilst maximising value
•    Create a 5 year strategic investment and divestment plan for our property estate that makes sure we invest appropriately to deliver optimum return on investment whilst managing capital constraints
•    Partner our wider businesses to make sure our property strategy aligns to the wider business strategy, presenting at project meetings to provide strategic updates and influence on next steps
•    Partner our Food and Funeralcare business to provide location and customer insight to help inform strategic decisions  

This role would suit people who have

•    Experience of developing a property strategy or experience of developing business strategy for any function within a large matrix organisation
•    Previous experience of leading and developing a team to achieve objectives
•    The ability to confidently work within a level of ambiguity and complexity to deliver results 
•    Excellent communication and relationship building skills with the ability to influence senior leaders in effective decision making
•    Great commercial acumen with a broad market knowledge and customer understanding
