Packaging Sustainability Delivery Manager 
£45,000 to £50,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 6A) 
Manchester City Centre, in this role you’ll work in a hybrid way splitting your time between home, the office, and you’ll have the opportunity to visit our suppliers (find out more about our hybrid working policy at jobs.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).  

We’re looking for a Packaging Sustainability Delivery Manager to join our team at Co-op. You’ll help shape and deliver our packaging sustainability strategy, working closely with teams across Sustainability, Commercial, Technical and New Product Development as well as our external suppliers.

From cutting costs in our packaging supply chain to supporting our Net Zero goals, you’ll play a key role in making it all happen. You’ll also be supporting our data reporting for mandatory and voluntary obligations such as EPR, DRS, and supporting Scope 3 carbon accounting. Your expertise will help us deliver meaningful change, making sure our Co-op is making a lasting impact for our suppliers, communities, and member-owners. 

What you’ll do

•    Be a subject matter expert on packaging materials, providing advice and guidance to colleagues and suppliers
•    Support our data reporting needs around packaging 
•    Lead and manage sustainability plans across supplier and internal teams to support our decarbonisation targets and broader sustainability commitments 
•    Collaborate cross-functionally with our Technical, Product Development, Commercial and Sustainability experts on priority projects and key initiatives 
•    Engage with suppliers and categories, driving progress, monitoring activity and reporting on sustainability performance 
•    Project manage specific sustainability activities in support of supplier activity or Sustainability plans 
•    Champion sustainability across internal and external teams, making sure it remains a priority in decision making 
•    Represent our Co-op at external meetings and conferences, for example with the UK Plastics Pact

This role would suit people who have

•    A strong interest in packaging sustainability 
•    Strong packaging industry experience and a wide range of knowledge of packaging materials 
•    Experience of managing and reporting on a portfolio of packaging initiatives to deliver against targets
•    The ability to communicate, influence and challenge internal and external partners successfully 
•    The confidence to develop relationships, working in cross functional teams to deliver wider business goals 
•    The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
