We’re looking for a Head of Promotions and Trade Planning to join our Propositions team here at Co-op.

In this role we’ll look to you to lead a team to deliver a rolling 18-month trade and events plan across all Co-op Food channels to drive alignment and consistency in our proposition. You’ll define the process and approach, and make sure that big themes and events throughout the 18-month period are agreed and aligned to the use of all promotional and event space across physical stores, websites and within our wholesale and franchise businesses.

If you can ensure all plans are anchored in insight and data and that every seasonal event is clearly briefed and mapped for internal and external stakeholders, we can offer you the opportunity to make a visible impact on the performance of our Food business.

What you’ll do

  • Define the process and approach for the plan, including defining the off-shelf space prioritisation and the sign off and approval process for promotions
  • Shape the role of membership and the allocation of investment in our member deals across our channels
  • Deliver clear event and season briefs across the business to make sure all cross-functional teams know what is required for each season and event
  • Make sure all plans are supported by insight and data and communicated to internal partners
  • Be accountable for the teams co-creating, writing and socialising the right season and event briefs, making sure all functions have been engaged and understand their role
  • Be responsible for making sure that all events on the calendar are landed on time with engagement critical paths tailored to each channel
  • Complete post event reviews, to support recommendations for future events
  • Deliver year on year growth in both sales and profit in all channels through events and effective use of each of our channels

This role would suit people who have

  • A customer first approach with an excellent understanding of market and customer insight and how to use it for future thinking planning
  • The ability to be customer focused and balance operational and commercial needs
  • An organised and structured way of working, with the ability to adapt to business needs
  • The ability to build strong and collaborative relationships with partners internally and externally
  • An analytical approach with the ability to interpret and create tangible actions for events reviews

Why Co-op?

If you can shape our trade planning and events strategy, we can offer you an excellent salary and a benefits package which includes 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (as well as other discounts on Co-op products and services).

  • An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
  • A company car or car allowance
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Private healthcare for you and your family
  • Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
