Development Analyst
£38,000 – £45,000 plus benefits (Work Level 6A)

We’re looking for a Development Analyst to join the Optimisation Centre team within our wider Co-op Business Services (CBS) organisation. CBS is made up of a number of diverse teams dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable and cost-effective business services across our Co-op. You’ll play a key role in helping CBS to support and realise our group vision of ‘co-operating to build more value for member-owners every day’.

We’ll look to you to be accountable for driving data best practice, making sure data is optimised, by developing data-driven solutions and supporting with the creation of system analysis which will allow Co-op colleagues to make data driven decision decisions and drive value for our customers, members, and communities. 

What you’ll do

  • Work alongside business partners to understand high level business problems and capture these as user stories, making sure you clearly articulate the business benefits
  • Translate business problems into technical solution designs, reacting to business needs and creating solutions to tight timescales
  • Model data which is readily available in our data platforms and of sufficient quality to deliver the agreed solutions in a way which meets user requirements, is scalable, and makes sure solutions are performant
  • Use common tools and standards to develop solutions to be applied across other business reporting functions, making sure a robust, well-integrated, and well-supported product is delivered
  • Support the development of analysis and impact assessments that enable business interpretation of technical changes
  • Conduct thorough testing of any solutions and work with partners to achieve business sign-off of the solutions developed


This role would suit people who have

  • Demonstrable experience of understanding business problems, scoping requirements, and designing potential solutions
  • Experience in building and maintaining solutions and products utilising Microsoft Access (including SQL), Visual Basic, Microsoft Excel, PowerAutomate and SharePoint (including Lists)
  • Familiarity with SAP ECC and/or SAP S4 HANA, and canvas based PowerApps•    experience in the management and processing of data, data quality, and data analysis
  • Experience with data visualisation techniques and tools including Power BI 
  • An understanding of a standard system database structure and the relationships between tables
