Risk and Assurance Advisor 

£34,000 to £42,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 6A) 

Fully flexible hybrid working, with a requirement to come to our head office in Manchester for team meetings when needed (find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy). 

We’re looking for a Risk and Assurance Advisor to join our property team here at Co-op. In this role you’ll help us to effectively implement the risk management and assurance requirements of the Co-op Property RHSE (Risk, Health, Safety and Environment) strategy, across all Co-op trading and non-trading properties.

We’ll look to you to provide development, monitoring and co-ordination of risk management frameworks to make sure they are effective and to assist with delivering audit and assurance plans. What you’ll do

  • Lead and support the development and maintenance of the RHSE integrated management system (IMS) on SharePoint
  • Conduct audits of systems and procedures to check whether they’re working effectively – making recommendations for improvement
  • Review dashboard reports to make sure that they’re accurate
  • Manage RHSE documents and procedures, making sure they’re kept up to date 
  • Support the supplier assurance system to make sure that it continues to develop and remains effective, including completing regular audits and conducting trend analysis around findings
  • Manage the risk acceptance process relating to risk and compliance within property 
  • Coordinate engagement and communication activity for internal and external partners 
  • Support with RHSE function administration
  • Support with organising continuous improvement groups with the supply chain 

This role would suit people who have

  • A relevant health and safety/risk management qualification or working towards one (i.e. NEBOSH General Certificate)
  • Experience in completing audits to an agreed set of standards 
  • Capability to spot gaps/issues and make strong recommendations to fix them
  • Experience in managing risk acceptance processes 
  • The ability to write well informed and engaging audit reports 
  • Excellent communication skills with the confidence to challenge and escalate, where necessary
