Reconciliations Team Leader

£30,000 - £36,000 plus excellent benefits (Work Level 6B)

We’re looking for a Team Leader to join our Bank Reconciliation team within our Co-op Business Services (CBS) function. CBS is made up of a number of diverse teams dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable and cost-effective business services across our Co-op. You’ll play a key role in helping CBS to support and realise our group vision of ‘co-operating to build more value for member-owners every day’.

You’ll be leading a team of Reconciliation Advisers, ensuring the bank reconciliations are completed accurately and within agreed services levels daily, resolving queries and processing journals. At period end, several balance sheet reconciliations are required to be prepared at a detailed level.

We’re looking for an AAT (or equivalent) qualified accounting professional with solid experience in reconciliations, journals, and all things accounting. You’ll be a natural leader, someone who takes ownership and ensures the team is supported, workload is balanced, and deadlines are met. As the go-to expert for both processes and systems, you’ll play a crucial role in making sure everything runs smoothly.

What you’ll do

  • Lead reconciliation advisors, acting as a point of contact for any issues and people management of the team
  • Oversee cash and bank reconciliation and control, cash collection, cash allocation and any ad hoc payments
  • Oversee the daily workflow for the team, making sure deadlines and targets are achieved, assist in producing process documents and support with training other members of the team
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, projects and change programmes including systems changes
  • Make sure any issues are resolved and escalated quickly and accurately
  • Manage and resolve any complex queries and be recognised as an expert in your field

This role would suit people who have

  • An AAT qualification (or similar) or currently working towards one
  • Previous accounting experience, with knowledge of banking processes including bank and balance sheet reconciliations and journals processing
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with a high-volume workflow
  • Previous team leader experience with the ability to motivate colleagues in the team and deal with any issues
  • Good analytical skills and experience at proficient level with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience of using ReconNET and S4/Hana (SAP) desirable
