HGV Technician – Night Shift
£56,000 (including additional shift premiums)  plus great benefits
Night Shift (6pm – 6am), 4 days over 7
Birtley, DH2 1AE

We’re looking for a HGV Technician to join us at our depot in Birtley. In this role, you’ll provide support to our transport department by maintaining, servicing, and repairing our mixed HGV fleet of over 130 vehicles and trailers. You’ll get to work in our fantastic, state-of-the-art VMU (Vehicle Maintenance Unit), which includes two full-size inspection pits, mobile vehicle column lifts, brake testing rollers, manufacturer diagnostic equipment, as well as plenty of other tools and machinery.

What you’ll do

  • Carry-out repairs, servicing, and maintenance of all Co-op HGVs at the depot
  • Make sure all vehicles meet DVSA standards and MOT regulations
  • Maintain records of all planned maintenance and reactive repair activities
  • Carry-out LOLER inspections and weight testing
  • Make sure all spare parts and accessories are stored safely and securely, and order new stock as needed

This role would suit people who have

  • An NVQ in motor vehicle repairs and maintenance (or equivalent)
  • A Class C and Class C+E driving licence
  • Experience performing repairs and maintenance for a large, mixed fleet of HGVs and trailers
  • Experience using Delphi diagnostics equipment and working on Scania and DAF vehicles
