I’ve been working as a solicitor for Co-op Legal Services since May 2018. We’ve run several apprenticeship schemes over the years, and they’ve added real value to our team. It’s a great way for new colleagues to gain experience, improve their skills, and earn on the job. That’s why we’re excited to be launching our new level 7 solicitor apprenticeship.
Why Co-op?
Last year, Co-op delivered £15 million to over 4,500 local causes, and it feels great to be part of a team making good things happen. We’re owned by 4.5 million members, and as we grow, our profits are shared with our members and their communities.
At Co-op Legal Services, there’s over 600 staff helping over 250,000 people a year. Our legal team is the number one leader in probate, estate administration and estate planning. Building positive relationship with our customers is important to us all, and we’re proud of our customer satisfaction score of 86%.
With our Level 7 Solicitor Apprenticeship programme, you’ll have a fantastic opportunity to gain industry experience and earn while you learn. You’ll begin a training plan to develop the skills you need to qualify as a solicitor and build a successful career in legal services.
Some advice from Thomas Bell, Co-op’s first ever Level 7 Apprentice Solicitor
“In my experience, apprenticeship opportunities like this one are rare, which is why I was so excited to join Co-op and kickstart my career. For me, it was the chance to earn a degree at the University of Law as well as getting paid. Plus, I got the chance to learn from a team full of experience.
My advice to anyone thinking about an apprenticeship is to go with what suits you best. I always wanted to get into work and start earning as quickly as I could, so this apprenticeship was the way forward for me.
I’ve also learnt that apprenticeships shouldn’t be considered an easy route, especially at a level 7 standard. You have to be committed and driven to find success as a solicitor. I enjoy being part of the Co-op team and I feel positive about my future here. I’m really glad I became Co-op’s first ever Level 7 Apprentice Solicitor.”
