We’re looking for motivated and curious individuals with an interest or background in grant making to join the Co-op Foundation as Funding Officers on 6-month fixed-term contracts.

The Co-op Foundation is Co-op’s charity – in line with our strategy, we support organisations to build communities of the future together. You can find out more about the Co-op Foundation here: https://www.coopfoundation.org.uk/

In this role, you’ll form part of a team that designs and delivers a wide range of youth, environmental and social enterprise funding across the UK. You’ll have the opportunity to work with a collective of young people who support our decision making and to work with a range of incredible partner organisations. If you can bring energy, drive and a real passion for our Co-op values, we can offer you an exciting opportunity to have a real impact on communities, through the delivery of Co-op Foundation’s strategy, Building Communities of Future Together.

In this role, you’ll be a key member of the Foundation team, overseeing multiple key work areas in line with the delivery of our strategy. We’ll look to you to be involved across the work of the Foundation. You’ll play a key role in making sure that the Foundation’s strategy is translated into high-quality funding programmes on the ground: this’ll rely on you building strong partnerships with external organisations and internal stakeholders, so you’ll need to be an excellent communicator, relationship manager and collaborator.

What you’ll do

  • Deliver Foundation programmes and build trust-based relationships with funded partner organisations
  • Contribute to the implementation of Foundation policies and procedures to support continuous improvement
  • Attend and contribute to team meetings and events, presenting information and updates on your work areas
  • Make sure that partner organisations receive payments on time
  • Contribute to communications activity in support of the Foundation’s objectives (including social media, report-writing, attending events) and act as key point of contact for incoming enquiries

This role would suit people who have

  • Knowledge of the funding or charity sector, or a keen interest in building a career in this area
  • Effective communication skills – both written and verbal
  • The ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with key partners both internally and externally
  • Strong project management or organisational skills with the ability to work independently and prioritise your workload effectively

Why Co-op?

If you have the skills that we need, we can offer you a competitive salary and great benefits package which includes 30% off Co-op branded products in our food stores (as well as other discounts on Co-op products and services).

  • An annual bonus (based on personal and business performance)
  • 28 days holiday (rising to 32 with service) plus bank holidays
  • A pension with up to 10% employer contributions
  • Access to a subsidised onsite gym (at our Manchester HQ)
  • Coaching and training to support your career development
  • Wagestream app – giving you access to a percentage of your pay as you earn

At Co-op, we’re proud to do things a different way. As one of the world’s largest co-operatives, owned by millions of members, community is at the heart of what we do. Since our Co-op was founded in 1844, we’ve had a clear social purpose, and everything we do as a business helps to build a fairer world for our members, customers, colleagues, and communities.
