Category Technical Assistant
£24,570 to £25,500 plus great benefits (Work Level 6C)

We’re looking for a Category Technical Assistant to join the Propositions team here at Co-op. In this role you’ll make sure technical systems are maintained and that accurate technical data is shared with suppliers and supporting Technical Managers and Technologists. The data you’ll provide will support in identifying trends and any issues which will allow the team to make sure that Co-op products are safe, legal, authentic and comply with Co-op policies. Ultimately, you’ll work to make sure we exceed our customers and member-owners expectations with the quality of our ambient goods, which include food, non-food and the beer, wine and spirits categories.
What you’ll do
- Support with administration tasks of the technical function
- Support the technical team with keeping the due diligence systems up to date
- Build and manage relationships with an extensive supply base
- Support the sustainability goals of our Co-op by analysing and collecting necessary data
- Plan and organise your own workload, including task and resource allocation to make sure we can deliver against objectives
- Provide technical data to senior leaders and colleagues across the organisation
- Share complaint data internally and with the supply base, to highlight any concerns or trends to make sure we are continuously improving
- Evaluate and test new or improved due diligence systems
This role would suit people who have
- An interest in food retail
- Good IT literacy with the ability to use Microsoft office applications
- The ability to manage and prioritise your own workload
- The ability to work with and analyse data, whilst easily adapting to new IT systems and applications
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build good relationships with internal and external colleagues
