Analytics & Machine Learning Manager
£56,000 to £66,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 5)
12-month fixed-term contract/secondment
Manchester City Centre (hybrid working)

We’re open to applications from candidates who may require flexible working arrangements. There’ll be an opportunity to discuss your flexible working requirements during the interview process, and at offer stage.

We’re looking for an Analytics & Machine Learning Manager to join our Analytics & Insights team, within our wider Digital Technology & Data team, on a 12-month fixed-term contract in Manchester. In this role, you’ll help us to improve the way we use our data by managing advanced analytics projects from start to finish and offering actionable recommendations backed by strong insights.

As our Analytics and Machine Learning Manager, you’ll lead a team focussed on developing and implementing innovative ways that we can use our data. We’re always looking for opportunities to continuously improve the value and quality of insights provided across Co-op, and you’ll play a key role in this. This is a hybrid opportunity, and you’ll be required to spend at least one day each month working from the office (find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).

What you’ll do

  • Partner with our Insurance, Funeralcare, and Legal Services business areas to build and deliver a joined-up analytics & insight roadmap
  • Manage the design and delivery of complex end-to-end analytics projects & predictive models
  • Collaborate with our wider data teams to develop and share advanced analytics techniques, using data from various sources
  • Build meaningful relationships with key partners across the business; finding opportunities for analytics to make a genuine impact, driving commercial performance and customer behaviour
  • Understand how each project interacts with the wider business, engaging with the relevant partners across Co-op to share valuable, data driven recommendations
  • Manage your team effectively and support them in their development

This role would suit people who have

  • Significant experience of designing, delivering, and managing large-scale, complex, end-to-end data projects
  • Experience building machine learning models & running statistical tests
  • Strong numeracy skills, with a background in maths and statistics (or equivalent)
  • Experience writing and developing code with large datasets using SQL, SAS and Python (or equivalent)
  • The ability to scope and implement analytical solutions (e.g., segmentation, clustering, regression modelling, measurement)
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to clearly present often complex information to a non-technical audience
  • Good relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate with external partners, and colleagues of all levels of seniority

We know that some candidates are less likely to apply for a role if they don’t meet all the criteria in the job description. At Co-op, we're committed to building a diverse and inclusive working environment, so if you'd like to apply for this role but your experience doesn't quite meet every point, we'd still encourage you to apply. You may be just the right candidate for the job or other roles we have available.

  • Private healthcare
  • 28 days holiday plus bank holidays
