Agriculture Manager 
£45,000 to £50,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 6A) 
Manchester City Centre, in this role you’ll work in a hybrid way splitting your time between home and the office (find out more about our hybrid working policy at colleagues.coop.co.uk/hybrid-working-policy).  

We’re looking for an Agriculture Manager to join our Farming and Fisheries team. We’ll look to you to ensure the responsible sourcing of products in line with our agriculture strategy with a particular focus on pigs, poultry and eggs. You’ll build strong relationships with farmers and suppliers that we partner with, travelling across the UK to meet them and being a representative of our Co-op.  As an Agriculture Manager, you’ll support and coordinate projects to make sure our sourcing standards are met and help us deliver against our sustainability targets.

What you’ll do

•    Focus on pig, poultry and eggs while also supporting other areas in the team.
•    Work collaboratively with our farming supply chain, engaging with farmers and suppliers across our categories 
•    Make sure Co-op sourcing standards are met across health, welfare, and environment 
•    Help to deliver Co-op’s sustainability strategies by working on a range of projects and collaborating with both internal and external teams 
•    Manage a range of queries from customers and members relating to farming and provide updates around Co-op’s sustainability and welfare initiatives 
•    Collect and report data on our performance against public targets and external reporting requirements 
•    Support in the development of Farming and Fisheries sustainability policies 
•    Collaborate with the Senior Agriculture Manager to plan, organise, and complete strategies and actively contribute to the team’s overall goals 

This role would suit people who have

•    A background in agriculture or sustainability 
•    An appreciation for agriculture and their supply chains 
•    Previously worked with farmers, growers, or in a produce business 
•    Good technical knowledge and understanding of primary productions across protein and produce, UK policy and impacts of climate change on the sector 
•    Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical subject matter to a non-technical audience
