Job description

Depot General Manager
£90,000 to £100,000 plus excellent benefits (Work Level 4)
Andover, SP11 8EZ (with occasional travel nationwide)

We’re looking for a Depot General Manager to join us in Andover to lead all aspects of our fast-paced depot. In this role, you’ll turn our wider logistics strategy into an effective operational plan, making sure we have the resources and processes in place to deliver this successfully.

Our Andover depot is responsible for delivering products to more than 400 stores and, as a Depot General Manager at Co-op, you’ll have a big part to play in this. We’ll look to you to lead our colleagues at Andover, own the relationship with our third-party suppliers and trade union partners, while also working closely with other senior colleagues across the wider business.

What you’ll do

  • Manage our depot, creating an effective and customer-focused operational plan
  • Lead, coach, and develop an engaged, multi-disciplinary leadership team, and promote a culture of continuous improvement across the depot
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners
  • Deliver our operational plan to budget and maintain a cost-effective operation

This role would suit people who have

  • Experience leading large-scale teams
  • Experience delivering positive change within a large, complex, and challenging environment
  • An understanding of logistics/manufacturing, site management, and/or end-to-end food retail operations
  • Great leadership skills, and a passion for developing others
  • Strong experience of managing a large budget effectively

Applying for a job You can apply for a job with us quickly and easily on your laptop or phone. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done before or if you have little experience — it’s all about matching our values and bringing your passion, motivation and capabilities to your new role.

Online assessment As part of your application you’ll need to complete an online assessment which will measure how well your behaviours, values and motivations match up to this role. It will take around 20 minutes to complete this assessment.

Interview If you pass the online assessment and short qualification call, you’ll be asked to come to one of our depots for an interview. We’ll discuss with you a date and time and send you an email confirming all details of your interview. We’ll also send you a really helpful guide on how best to prepare, so nothing on the day should surprise you, and most importantly what proof you need to bring to prove your right to work in the UK.

Your decision If you’re successful at your interview, you’ll receive a phone call from one of the Talent Acquisition & Development team to talk about your job offer. If you accept, we’ll then send your offer online via an email. Before anything can be processed, you’ll need to accept this offer online. This will start your journey into our Co-op.
