Find your Co-op job

Search

I’ve been passionate about food and sustainability for as long as I can remember, which led me to becoming a chef after finishing university. Over time, I realised that I wanted to delve a bit deeper into the world of food technology but, despite my interest, I struggled to find opportunities that matched my qualifications. That was until I found the Food Technologist Degree Apprenticeship at Co-op.

The best of both worlds

This apprenticeship gives me the best of both worlds. I spend one day each week studying towards my qualification through Sheffield Hallam University, and the rest of my time getting stuck into more hands-on projects at Co-op. I’ve studied some really interesting modules so far, and recently completed a project on the sustainability of Chilean wine production, which I loved!

The experiences and opportunities so far have been incredible

Since joining Co-op, I’ve achieved so much and have been given so many incredible opportunities in such a short space of time. I’ve earned my WSET Level 2 qualification, collaborated with global suppliers, volunteered with FareShare (the UK’s largest charity tackling hunger and food waste), and witnessed first-hand the positive impact Co-op has on our local community. These experiences have allowed me to immerse myself in an industry I’ve always been passionate about yet knew little of when I first started. I even had the chance to join my colleagues on an unforgettable trip to Turin to learn more about vermouth production!

Just go for it!

My advice to anyone considering an apprenticeship with Co-op is to go for it! Programmes like this are such a good way to learn, develop, and build your career. I’m incredibly grateful for the journey and opportunities I’ve had so far, and I’m so excited to see what’s to come!
