Who we are 

Our marketing, merchandising and comms teams are where we define and deliver engagements with customers and colleagues, across multiple channels. We help to shape Co-op’s value proposition, and deliver campaigns that are truly customer focused, and reflective of the uniqueness and diversity of our local communities.

We’re passionate about the customer. We look at everything from the perspective of Co-op customers and members, and we challenge ourselves and our colleagues from that perspective and knowledge base.

We regularly recruit new colleagues to join our teams in customer planning and value; customer comms and propositions; marketing engagement; internal comms and media relations; e-commerce, and formats and innovation.

What we do

Marketing, merchandising and comms colleagues manage customer interactions through multiple channels. We’re a centre of excellence which delivers industry leading brand planning and marketing comms, and we aim to grow the Co-op brand and significantly impact business performance.

We want to get closer to where our customers are – we’re about more than just communications, and we seek to influence the wider customer experience. Our format and innovation team focus on how our customer shops, and how we shape the customer journey in our stores. While the e-commerce team owns and optimises the platforms where customers shop with Co-op online.

Colleagues are also a key focus for our service, and the internal comms team provides engaging, informative and timely communications to our 60,000+ Co-op colleagues.

Who we look for

In all our marketing, merchandising and comms teams we look for people who are customer-centric, creative and capable of bringing ideas to life. The ability to use data, insights and market information to drive decision making is also important for people who want to join our team.

We regularly recruit across a wide range of jobs – from proposition and media planning managers, to social media experts, SEO (search engine optimisation) professionals, PR managers and format development leads.

As well as the many skillsets needed to fulfil these roles, we also need to bring in people from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives in order to achieve our goals. We’re committed to building inclusive marketing, merchandising and comms teams, and we know that all our Co-op teams need to reflect the diversity of the communities they serve.
