We’re looking for caring people to join our Co-op Funeralcare team. You don’t need experience to do this job, just a genuine desire to help people at a time when they need it most. To help you learn the skills you need to deliver a first-class funeral service, we’ll support you with training from day one. As a funeral arranger you’ll often be the first point of contact for clients – understanding their needs and helping them to plan the funeral. It’ll be down to you to be there for them when they need our help, support or advice. This is a ‘non-certified’ role, so you won’t be able to carry out regulated activity like selling and advising on our funeral plans, but you will introduce clients to plans by arranging appointments with ‘certified’ colleagues and handing out brochures. You’ll also carry out a range of admin and business-related tasks to help ensure the smooth-running of the branch or care centre.
What you’ll do:
•welcome clients, providing expert guidance and advising on the best services to meet their individual needs and budget
•be a supportive figure for clients and their families; assisting with family visits, answering any queries and making sure relevant colleagues are made aware of clients’ needs
•be comfortable holding the fort in the funeral home, as there will be times when you’re the only colleague in the branch
•support with manual handling of coffins and the deceased
•make funeral planning appointments for clients with a ‘certified colleague’, and take information for pre-need queries and refer them to a ‘certified colleague’
•ensure all regulated work is referred to a ‘certified colleague’, including colleagues in the central care team who support with the servicing of plans
•build positive relationships in the community, being a point of contact for local community groups
