At Co-op we’re creating our own digital revolution. Now we’re looking for software engineers to support the growth of our unique business. As a software engineer at Co-op you’ll work in one of our multi-disciplinary agile teams alongside product owners, product managers, business analysts, architects, researchers and designers. We work together to create solutions that deliver simple applications with the needs of customers and members at their heart.
We have lots of ongoing projects currently at different stages, from discovery to alpha, beta and live. We’ve built Co-op Guardian- an award-winning, cloud-based application for our funeral homes that lets our colleagues spend more time with bereaved families. And we recently launched Shifts- a new website that gives our food store colleagues far more visibility of their working schedules and days off. What you’ll do:
•learn and take a full-stack approach to software development (it doesn’t matter if you’re not initially comfortable across the full stack)
•use modern engineering practices like TDD, pair programming and continuous deployment
•work within agile teams to create quick feedback loops and focus on the customer
•build services that make a difference to people’s lives
We’re mainly building web applications in Python and Java, however we’re flexible when it comes to your background. We’re looking for people who are passionate about fulfilling user needs, collaborating with others and building great quality software. We encourage and support a full-stack, polyglot approach. And we welcome applications from more experienced engineers, or those who are nearer the beginning of their careers. We come together regularly as a community of Co-op engineers to share knowledge and learn new skills and technologies from each other.
