At Co-op we’re creating our own digital revolution. Now we’re looking for platform engineers to support the growth of our unique business. As a platform engineer you’ll be embedded in an in agile multi-disciplinary team, providing automation, tooling and cloud infrastructure for Co-op services. You’ll also be part of a community of practice that includes engineers from all our digital teams. The community meets regularly to share knowledge and learn from each others’ experiences.
We currently have a number of ongoing projects at various stages, from discovery to alpha, beta and live. Our infrastructure is a healthy mix of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, making the most of Infrastructure as Code technologies like Terraform, Packer, Jenkins and git for version control.
What you’ll do:
•develop and maintain scalable, resilient cloud-based infrastructure using an Infrastructure as Code approach
•work with delivery teams to build and maintain continuous deployment practices
•contribute to platform architecture and design and drive continuous improvement
•work within and support a DevOps culture
•provide out of hours on-call technical support (as part of a sensible rota)
It’s important that you’re keen to work in an agile environment, and have a good understanding of the fundamentals (e.g. Linux, web technology stack). We’re flexible when it comes to your technical background (we find software engineers often make great platform engineers). And we welcome applications from more experienced engineers, and people who are near the beginning of their career.
We’d love to talk to you if:
•you’ve got a strong appreciation of modern practices for managing cloud infrastructure (DevOps, configuration management)
•you have experience working with cloud based infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Compute)
•you have working experience with configuration management tooling (e.g. Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible)
•you’re familiar with Unix/Linux operating systems and tooling
•you’re keen to work using agile methodologies in a DevOps culture
•you understand the full web technology stack (network, TCP/IP, DNS, routing, HTTP/S)
•you can quickly adapt to and learn new technologies
•you’ve got great communication skills and can collaborate with all kinds of people
