We’re looking for a manager to join us at Co-op in our corporate development team. We’re constantly growing our Co-op and making the communities we serve great places to live. We’re planning to invest in the businesses we have now as well as exploring new opportunities to make a difference - and this role will sit at the centre of that work. 

As a corporate development manager, you’ll be part of one of the leading corporate development teams in the North West, delivering key strategic projects including; disposals, acquisitions and other important commercial projects. You’ll partner closely with our senior business leaders and be fully immersed in our range of Co-op businesses, translating your world to finance and non-finance colleagues alike. It’ll be a challenging and complex job, but one in which you’ll make a real difference for the future of our Co-op and have plenty of opportunities to develop. 

What you’ll do 

•    lead teams, both internally and externally, to develop solutions, manage and execute those plans once projects are in process
•    present strategic proposals for the executive board and leadership teams
•    maintain relationships with external advisors, where required, to perform due-diligence on transactions
•    conduct negotiations on legal contracts, working with our in-house lawyers and external law firms as required 
•    formulate deal structures and negotiation strategies
•    build and maintain strong internal and external networks 
•    proactively research growth opportunities which would be of value to the Co-op and aligned with our values and long-term strategy
•    line manage, develop and mentor one other member of the team

This role would suit people who have 

•    significant experience within corporate finance and/or transactions: disposals and acquisitions, due diligence or restructuring 
•    an accountancy qualification 
•    great communication skills, with a talent for engaging both finance and non-finance audiences
•    strong financial and commercial acumen
•    the ability to coach, mentor and develop others on the team
•    a talent for building positive relationships with senior leaders across the business, influencing where necessary 
•    confidence and experience of leading teams through periods of large-scale change
•    the ability to work autonomously and manage your own workload effectively, as well as the teams that you lead
