Funeral Director
£13.26 per hour plus benefits
York Road, Leeds
45.5 hours per week, 8:30 - 17:00 weekdays + oncall when required
We’re looking for an empathetic and commercially minded person to join the Co-op Funeralcare team, and help deliver the best possible service to our clients. You don’t need previous industry experience to do this job – if you can bring amazing people skills combined with real commercial focus, we can offer you the chance to make a difference.
As market leaders, we’ve got a reputation for providing a caring and compassionate service when families need it most. As a funeral director you’ll be right at the heart of that service. You’ll balance your time between managerial and business tasks, and building strong, trusting relationships with clients. This is a ‘non-certified’ role, so you won’t be able to carry out regulated activity like selling and advising on our funeral plans, but you will introduce clients to plans by arranging appointments with ‘certified colleagues’ and handing out brochures.
What you’ll do:
make sure client needs, service levels and KPIs are met
be clients’ main point of contact; supporting and guiding with the help of the wider team
help clients to understand and choose the best ‘at-need’ products to meet their individual needs and budget 
lead the funeral service crew and driver colleagues on the funeral ceremony, making sure all necessary information is handed over to and understood by the care logistics team
build a strong working relationship with funeral arrangers and directors across the area, to make sure we have consistently high levels of client service
support funerals – conducting the ceremony and carrying the deceased when necessary
make funeral planning appointments for clients with a ‘certified colleague’, and take information for pre-need queries and refer them to a ‘certified colleague’
make sure all regulated work is referred to a ‘certified colleague’, including colleagues in the Central Care team who support with the servicing of plans 
build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community to understand what matters to them most
This role would suit people who have:
a commercial mind-set and experience in a managerial role
a true customer focus and a real passion for delivering a great service
the ability to capture intricate detail and make sure it is reflected in the service we deliver 
a warm, personal and professional approach
compassion, understanding and empathy, and the ability to keep a cool head under pressure
a UK manual driving licence

If you’re successful in your application, we’ll perform some background checks as part of our pre-employment screening process.
