Be part of our exciting growth

We’re midway through an exciting year for our London stores. We’re investing £28 million this year, opening 30 new shops, refitting 7 more, and creating around 600 new jobs for Londoners in the process.

With growth comes great opportunity. It’s a brilliant time to join the business as there is a real need to grow the capability of our teams quickly through great leadership and a progressive culture.

Our stores in London are at the forefront of our exciting new ventures and we currently have lots of opportunities to join our team.

Be part of a vibrant culture

We have a great culture that brings the best out in people in an inclusive way, we embrace difference and encourage growth and innovation.

London is ever-changing with a transient population which means the sense of community can often feel dispersed. That’s where Co-op stands out from the crowd. We bring diverse communities together through local community relationships, local causes and being there when the community needs us.

London is full of energy, vibrancy and forward thinking ideas.  Some of the largest tech firms in the world have bases in London. This has allowed us to partner with them to create exciting new channels for our customers.

Be part of our exciting new developments

We’ve been running a trial with Deliveroo from 15 of our London stores and it has been great to offer access to the Co-op to more customers than we ever have before. The extra volume has allowed more hours for colleagues and has added to our already dynamic and fast paced working environment.

We were delighted that London was selected to pioneer Co-ops new ecommerce operation, where our store colleagues pick and pack online orders to be delivered within two hours. We are now live in 4 stores and looking to expand this reach over the coming weeks, with the aim of servicing 5 million of London's population by August.

Progress your career

Our growth, coupled with our passion for colleague development, means you aren’t just getting a job, you are starting a career with us. We are really pleased to say that so far this year, 63% of our Store Manager appointments in London have been internal placements.

Make a difference in the community

All of our store colleagues are involved in something greater than a career, it’s a career where you can leave your mark making a difference in the community.

We are proud to help tackle problems facing the London community and to be there during times of need. We are working in partnership with Steel Warriors to assist to build twenty new open air gyms made using steel from knives that have been taken off the street, melted down and recycled. The gyms are designed to give young people a free space where they can develop confidence. Our colleagues also grouped together during the Grenfell tragedy to assist the locals in need of support and supplies.

Advice I would give if you are considering joining us

Embrace the opportunity to learn new skills and develop your career. In return, you’ll meet new people from all walks of life and help to care for the communities of London. It’s a career you can be proud of.
