Our Business Optimisation Team is a relatively new but exciting team, especially as we started using robotic processes last year. All the processes we’re involved with are in place to support customers, members and colleagues across the Co-op. We’re happy to be expanding our robotics process automation (RPA) sub team and are currently recruiting for our first apprentice.

Although were a relatively small team, were continuing to grow both in size and experienceAs a result, we were able to react quickly to the COVID-19 outbreak to support the business. Our team were a critical part of the delivery team which helped to rapidly recruit 5,000+ new colleagues to our stores and delivery centres. Prior toand since the outbreak, we’ve successfully delivered automations for our colleagues across the business, including resourcingpayroll, HR and sales. These automations can vary from advertising new roles to processing P45 requests, employment and financial references.

A clear progression pathway

Our team has a strong focus on personal development. To support this, we work collaboratively on designs and problems to make sure that all team members have a say and we can all learn from each other with those discussions. Weve designed a team structure which has a clear progression pathway to a variety of roles. There is an opportunity for everyone to gain industry recognised certifications, with support from senior members of the team. Our new apprentice will work towards completing Level 4 IS Business Analyst apprenticeship. It’ll be a brilliant opportunity for someone to gain exposure to a really interesting part of the business, and to hopefully progress to becoming a qualified developer.

The RPA community is open and supportive. We’ve built good relationships with other companies using robotic process automation so we can share learnings, challenges and ideas.

A particularly proud moment for us last year, when we won the Evolution Award from the National Shared Services Forum. A reflection on how we have embraced and progressed our team and capability in such a short period of time. It’s a great time to join the team.

Applications for our apprentice role open on 27th August.

Dave Fidler,

Business Optimisation Manager
